What are the benefits of insects?

Many.

Hungry? You can eat bugs like they do on Bizarre Foods, or chomp on honey. Insects are a food source for many people and animals that eventually become our food.

Bees not only create honey, but pollinate crops and wildflowers. Honeybees are responsible for all of the almonds grown in the United States - California farmers pay to have hives shipped out West to pollinate almond orchards every year.

Insects can create products like silk, beeswax, and dyes.

Many beetles are fantastic recyclers and decomposers and help to eat up dead trees, animals, and other detritus that would otherwise pile up without them.

Flies can act as pollinators but have also played an incredible role in forensic entomology: providing estimated times-of-death based on their developmental stage in the corpse.
