A World Without Pest Control
What would a world without pest management professionals look like?
- More world hunger. U.S. has the ability to export food to poverty stricken countries. Pest control protects this food.
- Many more cases of malaria. It caused caused 289 million cases and 836,000 deaths in 2010. 90% occurs in areas without pest control. U.S. has extremely low rates due to medical technology and, of course, pest control.
- Typhus, yellow fever, and the (bubonic) plague. These are/were spread by pests like rats, mosquitoes, and fleas. 80 percent of all diseases are spread by pests.
